Default Big O (5 Card Omaha 8)

I played some Big O tonight in Ventura CA. It seems to be very popular.

Has anyone heard of this game being popular anywhere else?
Any strategy tips?
Should this game have more variance or less variance for a good player? (opponents are very loose)

5 card Omaha 8 means that its played by the 5card draw rules?

If this is pot-limit, I would think that you'd need to be looser pre-flop and tighter post-flop in multi-way pots than you would with four cards.

If it is limit with a loose crowd, I suspect you shouldn't play any hands that don't have a suited ace and either a deuce or two wheels, unless you can see flops cheaply and everybody plays awful post-flop.

I've played Omaha where you are dealt five hole cards instead of 4. The rest of the rules are the same (i.e. use 2 from your hand and 3 from the board). They play this pot limit at The Aviation Club in Paris.

This was just limit Omaha 8 with 5 cards dealt instead of 4. The button is not dealt a hand if all 9 players are present at the table.

I was there Sunday night to check it out. I couldn't get into the game because the list was so long.

Obviously, you need to play to the nuts even more than in LO8. It seemed to me that most of those codgers were aware of this. From what I watched, it wasn't as juicy a game as I expected.

If you're going up again, PM me to share a ride. I would still like to try it.
