Mrs. Utah, you usurped me for sure. Ouch.

Oh, I am sorry. Not my intention. She, Kathy/Annie, is your nomination. I just had to post the pics, especially the hobbling pic. Yikes!

Jessica Walter as the nutjob Eveyln Draper who ends up super stalking Disc Jockey Dave Garver (Clint Eastwood) in Play Misty for Me.

[/ QUOTE ]

This was an awesome one! The insidious way she works her way into her life and then manages to maintain a completely crazy place in it while presenting the appearance that she's really pretty normal was scary as hell. Glenn Close had nothing on this girl, not a thing, not even, er, close.

Anyone who hasn't seen this movie is missing something really creepy and fun.

Ok, would you classify this woman as "crazy" or just plain mean?

(I found a huge picture of her face but I didn't want to frighten any of you so I refrained)

[/ QUOTE ]

Not crazy but terrifying. And evil. But she could compartmentalize, and her friends and family might never know the depths of her depravity. I guess when I think crazy, for contests such as this anyway, I think of someone who manifests it outwardly more and is less in control. If you call Burstyn's character in this role crazy, you have to also do so for Nick Cage's character in Lord of War, because he's morally reprehensible. However capable either character is of doing horrible things, they get along quite nicely in the world.

Bruce Willis's girlfriend in Pulp Fiction is what I would class as a true nut-job.

[/ QUOTE ]

Haha Are you talking about this girl?

Butch: Will you hand me a towel, tulip?
Fabienne: Ah, I like that. I like tulip. Tulip is much better than mongoloid.

I love this nomination! Now we are getting away from horror and looking at women who are crazy without being murderous. I'm interested in which female characters you classify as "nutjobs" who weren't in horror films (drama or comedy). I can think of a few nutty characters who were borderline. They weren't flat out "crazy" but they were definitely a little off for sure. I will try to find some pics.

She didn't seem crazy at all to me. Just childish and not too bright.

Barbara Stanwyck from Double Indemnity

Another more evil than crazy. She had her sh*t together big time.

oh, and mad nuns can get their own subcategory:

Vanessa Redgrave in The Devils, who masturbated on the leg-bone of the man she accused of witchcraft, after she dug it out of the ashes of the pyre they burnt him to death on.

Hell, there was a convent full of mad nuns in that one:

Oh, and the nun driven nuts by sexual repression in Black Narcissus:

Helena Bonham Carter as Marla Singer in Fight Club. Check out the URL for the first image, that cracked me up.
