200 NL: Stealing blinds with AA, BB fights back.
Blinds: $1/$2
6 players Stack sizes: UTG: UTG+1: CO: Hero: $200.00 SB: BB: $237.35 Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is Button with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] UTG folds, UTG+1 folds, CO folds, Hero raises to $7, 1 folds, BB calls. Flop: 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($15, 2 players) BB bets $15, Hero calls. Turn: 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] ($45, 2 players) BB bets $45, Hero calls. River: 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] ($135, 2 players) BB bets $135, Hero ? No stats. Villain seems to be playing tight. I haven't seen him do anything far out of line, but he cold-called and minraised my cb a few rounds ago (my hand was very weak and I folded). His action on every street was almost instant. The site has a potsize button, and that is villains standard on flop. |

I probably shove turn. Just calling is ok as long as you're calling a river shove. still shove turn seems best.

River is a pretty simple fold imo. Would be supriswed if anyone disagreed. you don't see a tight villain betting the full pot on the river with only a pair unless hes on a complete bluff. K9/A9 hands never do this. Looks like he backdoored a flush/straight to me

Insta-donk potting on boards like this, especially in steal situations, is not usually very strong. A read would have been great, but as is - I like how you played it, assuming you call the river. I think you fold out too much of his range you're beating with a turn raise. The 8s is a pretty bad card - but there's no reason to except he's on any of the draws it brings.

Why not a reraise on the flop to see where you are at? If he reraises you, you can fold. On the other hand he could either call or fold. If he calls then see what comes about on the turn and what he does. If he decides to fold, then you've won the pot.

there is little reason to reraise this flop. we don't want to hand him $ if he outflopped us and we don't want to discourage him if he's trying to push us out.

Hand him money because he outflopped us?
If he reraises you, you just saved yourself an extra $45 on the turn. We don't want to discourage him if he's trying to push us out. To be honest at these stakes, I don't see a player doing that, especially a tight player. |

Re: 200 NL: Stealing blinds with AA, BB fights back.
Reraising the flop is just terrible here. The goal of poker is to induce mistakes. Reraise the flop and you make it incredibly difficult for him to do anything besides play perfectly.
And IMO, you should be calling this flop with a wide enough range that it makes it incredibly difficult for him to not make a mistake on the turn. |
