New Pornographers tomorrow and Decemberists next Friday. Will post results.

I saw NP a couple nights ago, Decemberists a few months ago. pretty similar I think. they both came very close to trying to duplicate the studio versions of the songs. I think a band like The National is better live - they are far from a jam band, but they do throw in a few pieces of flair into their songs.

also, the NP had an annoying "NP" sign that flashed really loud and tried to give everyone seizures.

Not a new band, but does any else like Metric as much as I do?
I've been really getting into them lately and I think Old World Underground is freaking amazing.

God Johnson

Some of their stuff has been featured on MTV shows. Good ol fashion rock w/ some good funk mixed in. Check 'em out.

The New Pornographers were awesome imo. They are one of my favorite bands and I had never seen them so I was pretty excited. They had their entire troupe and Neko was really [censored] good (lots of weird old men who clearly were just there to ogle her). Agree with KB4Z that they're definitely the type of band that doesn't go far beyond the realm of their albums, but the sound was great, and musically they are quite tight. They really have a ton of great songs.

Seeing Stars tonight. Spoon/New Pornographers next week. The Hold Steady like ten days after that. I can only imagine all of those shows will kick ass.

Yeah, I missed Stars last night unfortunately. But I have a ridiculous lineup coming up:

-Nov 1: Spoon / New Pornographers (Houston)
-Nov 2: Of Montreal (Houston)
-Nov 3-4: Back in Austin for Funfunfunfest (Of Montreal and New Pornos again, as well as Okkervil River, Battles, Ted Leo, Girl Talk, Cat Power)
-Nov 6: Regina Spektor (haven't decided if I'm going, but I feel like it would be a good place to meet girls)
-Nov 7: The Pipettes
-Nov 14: Jens Lekman
-Nov 15: Art Brut / The Hold Steady

Oh yeah, I'm seeing Of Montreal too. I didn't realize Jens Lekman was coming to Dallas, but it turns out he's playing here the 13th, so I may have to check that out.
