Default 50NL: Medicore overpair v. flop c/rai

Villain a typical Russian lagTAG, 23/16/6/800 hands. Tough and aggro. Marginal winner over my 800 logged hands. But clearly these guys do get their aggro timing wrong from time to time.

I thought about checking flop to avoid exactly this situation - him pushing with any cc hand/maybe naked Ac/maybe 77-99/maybe overcards. But hell, I've shown plenty of strength and surely can't let him draw and just give up the initiative?

Fwiw, he tanked a reasonable amount of time before shoving.

Thanks.

You need to win this 1/3rd of the time for calling to be proper. This type of aggro-monkey is usually going to four-bet preflop with AA/KK/QQ, so you're only real fears are 66/33/22. In a blind-vs-blind situation, I think villain happily shoves A6 here, or [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. I call -- I think your hand is probably 50/50 to be a winner, but the pot overlay makes this a safe (though crying) call.
