Default Other Poker FAQ, Version 2.0

FAQ version 2.0.

Welcome to Other Poker, the nicest community on 2+2. The FAQ and guidelines is a revision of the original written by Tapirboy. The Other Poker regulars are a little strange, but most of us don't bite.

Other Poker is here for discussion of casino poker games not covered in the rest of 2+2. Common discussion topics here are Triple Draw Lowball, Five Card Draw, A-5 Lowball, Kansas City Lowball, Crazy Pineapple, Badugi, and mixed games, but we're always interested in other variants as well. We like Razz, but it’s actually discussed in the stud forum. Strangely enough, the Pot-Limit Omaha forum is also the place to discuss Limit Omaha High. Non-casino variants such as Baseball and Follow the Queen belong in Home Poker.

Due to the rampant popularity of our games, most hand posts here are done with raw hand histories. Euri10 made a converter for UB triple draw histories that can be found here. Greenage made a convert for PokerStars triple draw histories that can be found here. We appreciate their hard work and encourage the use of converters when posting triple draw hand histories. If anyone wants to work on a converter for other games, your work will be much appreciated. UB hand histories can be captured via Ultimate History or GameTime+.

We're also starting to look into posting videos of our play. This seems especially useful here as hand history postings can be difficult, and this method can be used for any online game.

Some existing videos of DeathDonkey and *TT* playing 2-7 triple draw can be found here.

For general questions, please read the FAQs below before posting.

Q. All these games are very confusing. Where can I read the rules?

Unfortunately Robert's Rules don't cover all of our games. He does have a few, including draw high and both A-5 & 2-7 lowball.

For other games it's generally best to look at the websites of rooms that spread them:

UB: Triple Draw
UB: Crazy Pineapple
UB: Crazy Pineapple Hi/Lo
Stars: 2-7 Triple Draw
Doyle’s Room: Badugi
PokerRoom: Chinese Poker
24hPoker: Sökö,Telesina,Americana

Q. Where can I play these cool games?

There are many online rooms, both major and minor, that spread “Other Poker” games. Some of the sites even allow Americans to play. Be warned, many of these games receive little traffic. Please PM Tom Bayes or a moderator if this list needs to be updated.

Q. Can I get rakeback or signup deals for those sites?

You can for most of them, but you're not allowed to ask about it in the forum.

Q. Where can I play these games live?

We'd generally like to know that, too. In particular, please make a thread if you play a mixed game in a casino for low to medium stakes. Regular mixed games at the Wynn, Bellagio, and Venetian in Las Vegas contain some of our games, and A-5 Lowball is supposedly still spread in a few California cardrooms.

Q. What books/web resources are there for these games?

Unfortunately, there's not a lot in print on any of these games. I'm going to list several, but I have to note that 2+2 doesn't endorse any of these except of course David's and Mason's books. We're always looking for more resources.
