What we need is a poker celebrity to run for President or Vice-President as a Libertarian in 2008 on a platform of repealing this stupid law.

Vice-Chair, Libertarian National Committee

Btw, note that Jeff Flake (a small-L libertarian) voted AGAINST the Internet gambling ban.

Now we're talking. Even if the candidate could not get elected, at least it would expand the public's awarness of this stupid law. Are there any poker celebrities that would be willing to do this?

2. For those die-hard republicans who refuse to vote democrat, you should at least consider voting libertarian. I have been a republican for most of my life, but have come to the sad realization that both of the major two parties are seriously flawed.

I'm havin a serious problem with the republicans attempts to control my life. Surprised they haven't tried to prevent flights from going to Vegas. I will be voting and it won't be republican. I can't beleive they think making 70 million people upset is a good thing.

I would think a well timed/executed advertising campaign with some well known poker players would work. Maybe the dems would pay for it .

No offense, but I think this is a horrible idea. Identifying our cause with one (highly controversial) political party would alienate many PPA members and other allies of poker. I doubt Libertarians have pull with anyone in government outside of a handful or Sununu's and Ron Paul's. Most in governement, and for that matter most members of the public, strongly disagree with libertarian policies, and would likely discount much of what libertarians have to say out-of-hand.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, because our cause is really popular with the Ds and the Rs right now. Wouldn't want to offend them, would we?

I posted this in another post, but it is worth repeating here:

"In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem."
