Home Game Debate
I play in a regular game with some friends. It is dealer’s choice. I usually deal Texas Holdem. Every time I deal it one guy asks, “Holdem high?” I give him “the eye” for two reasons. First, I have never – ever dealt Texas Holdem low. Second, I don’t think such a game exists. I know that there is razz, low ball, but I have never seen a 2 hole card, 5 community card game dealt as a low-ball in a casino. He says it does so I have come here to either eat crow or get ammo that I am correct.

Re: Home Game Debate
I've never heard of Hold'em played low either. Not sure how you're going to prove thats it's never happened though. There are a lot of cards rooms in the world and who knows what they all do...
I think the burden should be on him to name the place the he's seen or "heard of that's spread a hold'em low game. Omaha gets played hi/lo but its got 4 hole cards and not strictly low. |

Re: Home Game Debate
There was a discussion here a few months ago about this. I'm not sure which forum it was in and I can't find it right now. Aparently it was played and possibly is still play at some casinos. So the game does exist. There was a lot of discussion as to why it wasn't a very good game.

Re: Home Game Debate
Well, this is the home game forum, right? If you can imagine it, somebody has done it.
I have to confess that we once had a weekly home game (back in the early 90's) where for many years we played all manner of games in low, high and high-low formats, and intermingling options like cards speak vs. chip declare, or 6-low vs wheel, etc. Holdem was no exception - we played it every which-way. To switch rules around like this, we needed a really tight group - and we had one. Only one thing was off limits: wild cards. Interestingly enough, after many years of experimentation, all of us ultimately became devoted 7 stud 8 or better players. By the way, I would say Holdem hi-lo with simultaneous chip declare, wheel low is a great way to play the game! |

I've read about it, never played it in a casino.
Can't remember where I read it at. |
