Default Video always goes to full screen in dual monitor setup

I have an extra monitor connected to my laptop. It's set up so that my desktop is extended across both monitors. The problem is every time I open a video file my secondary monitor automatically plays the video in full screen. I can resize the video on the primary screen but I can't adjust it on the secodary monitor where its stuck on full screen. There's probably a simple fix to turn off this freature but I can't seem to find it anywhere. I have an nvidia video card. Google and 2p2 search wasn't any help. So does anyone here know how to change this?

This is a good question. I noticed it happening with Windows Media Player. I don't think it happens with other players. Perhaps look through the WMP settings?

WMP settings brother. There is a default in there to always display in full screen. In fact I think it uses the last setting.

are you running UltraMon?
I have this problem with UltraMon sometimes where it tries to run programs in "maximized" when I don't want it to nor have I ever maximized the window.

such as an AIM buddy list.

I had to buy a new screen just to hold my IM window. Get more friends.

In the Nvidia driver is an option for "Full Screen Video Device" - set this to "Disabled"

On my work computer now, I find it in "Display Properties -> Settings -> Advanced -> GeForce XYZ (a panel pops out left of settings window) -> Full Screen Video".

Location may vary with newer cards / drivers, setting will be in there somewhere.

Good luck,

dave.
