Paul Wasicka never called vs Gold
Apologies if this is old but I never heard this anywhere before. Just read some of the Wasicka interview in the new Bluff magazine, and he claims he never actually called Gold on the last hand. He said "you talked me into it" hoping that Jamie would give something away, but Jamie thought it was a call and flipped over his cards. Paul says Jamie's hand should have been declared dead, but he didn't want to get a ruling on it and go down in history as the $6 million WSOP final hand angle shooting douchebag, so he just sucked it up

Re: Paul Wasicka never called vs Gold
Yeah I read that too. He has also stated numerous times that his read was that Gold did not hit the board and was on a draw and that he was calling. so, he was calling him anyway. I'm sorry, but for that much difference between 1st and 2nd, if I had NO intention of making the call, then I protest. So, I don't buy his excuse of not protesting it. He wanted to call. End of story.

video of final hand, pretty sure Wasicka's right. it'd be a pretty nasty angle shoot if he called Gold on it though, he stood up and reached down to show his hand. Gold shouldn't have bene so damn jumpy though. |

[/ QUOTE ] obviously he was going to call. paul COULD have protested and successfully salvaged his tournament life here, but yes it would have been an angle shoot because he was intending to call. this shows that paul is a man of integrity. |

this shows that paul is a man of integrity. [/ QUOTE ] I TOTALLY agree. This was the BEST article Bluff ran this month, imo, and my first thought was what a man of character Paul Wasicka is/was. He has final tabled quite a few recent big tourneys and is SO deserving a big win. I hope he gets one soon (just not against Gobbo ) |
