ucla.
I agree that people make stupid raises too much, but if you ask me, its infinitely more likely to be 66 than KJo or some such. If you think he's bluffing 3-banging it here is way better...not that i recomend it. Not to mention that while you say people bluff too much you also seem to be saying that they rarely bluff the turn, and they need to check the turn a helluva lot to make a call even remotely close to good.

Mike,

The minraise bluff backfires when it gets called. Villain is frozen by his display of strength and the display of strength in a call. Raising would be really bad as no better hands are folding and no worse hands are calling.

nath,
i did, as an alternative to calling, since i think calling is dreadfully bad. I really think anything but folding is a giant spew. and i would fold almost always, and im a giant call box spew machine.

cause we have 22K (well 19K behind now) and not like 16 (13), at which point I'd shove a surprising amount of the time, too.

ucla,
how does the minraise bluff backfire when he's so often bluffing with the best hand. how does the minraise bluff backfire if your plan is to call and try to hit without the proper odds, if he even fires the turn half the time?

Also, calling doesnt look like huge strength to a standard villain, and what good does freezing him do if he has a hand that has you beat anyway (which he generally does). Its quite possible that when he raises he wants you to fold, but so what. Even if you figure that out that doesnt mean that calling wins you the pot.

yeah in general i fold but i don't c-bet much out of position and often when i get minraised on this board i tend to think "[censored] this clown who thinks i missed the flop" not "omg i'm toast". that decision however depends on your read of your opponent.

Pushing here is such spew. I saw so many minraised monsters in the WSOP donkaments I played. It's annoying, and he CAN be FOS here, but really, it's just a fold.
