There's not TOO much they can do with a scan of your government ID, especially if you black out the license number. Your name, address & DOB should be pretty easy for most people to find with a bit of work.

Yep. Just scan the ID and black out the number.

im not sure about other sites, but back in the day, when I had to send Party my ID, they did not allow me to black out my license number.

I did this with full tilt on my ID and blocked all info but address and name from the credit card bill. And they took it just fine.

Thank you for your email to Full Tilt Poker Support.

Prior to your first check withdrawal, you must verify your account
information by sending us your valid photo ID and proof of address.
Please send us clear copies of each of these two documents:

1) Photo ID:

One of the following: Valid driver's license, passport, or other
government-issued ID that clearly shows your date of birth and the ID?s

date of issue/expiry.

2) Proof of Address:

One of the following: Bank/credit card statement, utility/cell phone
bill, or home/auto insurance papers (recently dated - within past 60
days - and in your name).

Yea, black out the number.

I'm not sure about all states, but in Illinois the number is just a combination of your information, IE you can actually get the number from just knowing the other stuff on your licence.

I agree I think it is stupid!
Fulltilt originially told me months ago that one of the reasons they needed all of this identifying information was to make sure my address was correct when they sent the check.
Duh. I received no response when I said that the address I provided their software at account registration was accurate and to go ahead and mail me the check.

I ended up using Epass otherwise I would not be playing at Fulltilt.

Yes I am over 18. Thought it a little much when they wanted drivers license, birth certificate or passporte, utility bills, bank account statements, last girlfriends name and address, religion, political affiliation.

I always figured the primary reason for this was to put a stop to gnoming. That is to say, they want to make sure the person behind every account actually exists.

This may be true of casinos, but why would a person gnoming request a check in someone else's name?

Well in some places you can pay any cheque into your bank if it is endorsed by the payee - even if the cheque is crossed.

Of course, the bank have no way of knowing who the endorsement comes from!
