Default Anyone do Fantasy leagues with individual defensive scoring?

Ive never done a league with this but im interested in bringing it up in my league next year. How do any of your leagues do this. Scoring systems, roster #'s ,etc. Any info would be helpful on how your league does it. Thanks

The league I'm in does this. 6 players, two DLs (linemen or linebackers), two DBs (CB/safety), two your choice. 1 pt for solo tackle, sack, INT, FF, and fumble recovery, and 0.5 for assist, PD, blocked kick. Standard points for scoring and return yards.

We did this maybe three years ago and picking a team def. is 10000 times better. It is harder to keep track of, you don't see the highlights that impact your team as much, (ie did Jon Beason have an INT in today's game?).

Unless your league is uber NFL fans, I don't suggest doing it.

I have done this many times, and I think it almost detracts from the game. It basically adds more positions of luck into the field, because the best defensive players most of the time do not translate into the best fantasy stats. Usually the best players are good players on really bad defenses, and it turns into total luckfests similar to kickers.

Wtf that is the worst scoring system ever. A solo tackle equals a sack, INT, FF or Fumble recovery???? Do you guys even watch football?

This one is better and we use it:

Solo tackle = 1
Tackle assist = .75
Sack = 3
INT = 5
Forced Fumble = 4
Fumble Recovery = 3
PD = 1.5
Block Kick = 3

Every league I'm in that used defensive players I stopped caring about midseason. The whole thing is pretty dumb. You end up wanting defensive backs that suck but make tackles and a few picks because they get thrown at all the time. The whole thing is a crapshoot.

I agree. You pretty much just pick the guys who get the most tackles every week (Im playing Patrick Willis, London Fletcher, EJ Henderson, and Michael Boley, hmmm, linebackers on teams with a combined record of 14-26, surprise). I didn't set the scoring.

I dont like IDP because generally with offensive FF players if you have a great player it will translate into points.

That isn't true of a lot of IDP players, Champ Bailey being a really good example.

in general i agree with d10. find good inside lb and safeties on terrible teams. esp teams whose off sucks so the d is on the field a lot.
