? About \"Striped\"
When people pronounce "striped" as "stripe-ed," are they just trying to be cute/funny, or do they really think that's how you say it?

Who does this? I've never heard it, although if I did I would immediately assume the speaker had a double-digit IQ at best.

Re: ? About \"Striped\"
acceptable, but stupid pronuncition.
The reverse of 'nuc-u-lar' which was the original pronunciation by the German/Russo physicists who invented nuclear bombs, but is now somehow unacceptable, even though nuclear engineer and POTUS Carter pronounced it that way. |

Re: ? About \"Striped\"
its a throw-back pronunciation. it was originally pronounced stripe-ed. all words with -ed were originally pronouned like that. some of them keep the full pronunciation just out of tradition, like learned and beloved. i think the english classes here in finland are better than the ones in america. americans are madd dumb yo.

[/ QUOTE ] our tax money doesnt go into a giant toilet. it actually goes to worthwhile things for the community--its well spent. i see our taxes as just the community pooling its money to spend it on things that we all need and want. americans associate taxes with the government just taking their money because your government spends it on dumb crap and you never see it again. id much rather have high taxes and the money come back to us by being judiciously spend in the community than give the government only 30% or so and have it dumped into iraq or welfare or $20,000 per year per prison inmate or whatever other dumb crap you spend it on. ps. end political debate. (i won. in your face.) |
