I often defend this in my games, but at fullring .5/1 I think it's a fold, especially with the higher rake. Flop and turn I would play the same. It sucks when he fires the 3rd barrel since alot of worse hands have showdown value and should be checking behind, but I can't fault you for calling against an unknown.

Preflop is a fold for me unless villain has an ATSB of at least 50. Kxo really sucks donkey balls.

I usually c/r the flop but my style of play in these spots differ from Sharpies. I think c/c c/c c/c is fine. You cant c/f the river UI without a read here. Against a predictable TAG who will check behind Ax on the river I like c/c c/c c/f.

As others have said, this is probably a fold PF, but at times OK to defend with. The biggest reason for a fold here is the lack of a read as we have no idea what his stealing standards are and this is just a marginal call at best.

I think the biggest decision is on the river.

I actually think not having a read here makes this more likely a fold. Villian has fired a 3rd barrel on a river which completes a flush draw and a possible straight draw. Yes, when HU, these draws are there less, but most opponents will still check behind here very often with hands that beat you... so what are they betting with?

I'm guessing that you are prolly not good here one in ~6 times, but may be worth looking up here as it is close.

I wonder if an OOP free card play would work here if we c/r'd the flop?

I'm folding it preflop.

Probably c/f the flop as played (that may bring some disagreement!)
There is no street here that I couldn't check/fold. In order for us to win this hand at showdown button has to be betting a draw of some kind or we have to raise him off his hand somewhere. The only place I would even consider trying to raise him off his hand is the flop with a check raise but I'd rather c/f I think.

I like a flop c/r. We are looking good vs a steal range.

What would your plan be for the rest of the hand, if your opponent called your flop c/r ?

Yeah, i think need to tighten up a little bit from Stox's defending and re-stealing recommendations against unknowns, because their stealing standars are probably tighter.
