Re: going to buy some more books... recommendations?
For limit games i would suggest getting started in holdem or lee jones winning low limit hold em first.
I havent read Hilgers internet texas holdem book, but that is popular too. Then the next Limit hold em book should definitely be Miller's Small Stakes Hold em. |

Weighing The Odds In Holdem Poker by King Yao or SSHE for limit. You don't need more books for nl. You need more practice.

your list for nl is solid. I really liked hoh3 as well. some of the questions were a little wierd but over all it is a must read. Also practice practice practice.

Re: going to buy some more books... recommendations?
The list for limit is pretty complete,,SSH, WTO. Hold'em on the Come by Mason(Dew) and Slotboom isn't bad. Not groundbreaking but I like getting info from different sources even if some repetiveness.
After your game has improved get HFAP and How Good is Your Limit Hold'em....but that is a long way off. Honestly, if you get Ed's SSHE and study it, you will be a winner even as a beginner. |

Three books for a starting limit player:
Small Stakes Hold'em Weighing the Odds Hold'em on the Come All of these should be available at your local mega-bookstore. |

Re: going to buy some more books... recommendations?
holdem for advanced players - probably outdated and sklansky writing so minus points for clarity; and 7 card stud for advanced players - also pretty badly written but the information, apparently, withstands.

Re: going to buy some more books... recommendations?
If you only read one book on limit read Matt Hilgers book. It covers every aspect of the game.
Having said that IMO the essential books for any limit player are: Getting started in hold em (for beginners). Small Stakes hold em (when you are more advanced). Internet Texas hold em (at any stage). How good is your limit hold em is also a fantastic book but I believe it is only suitable for very advanced players. It's a good one to read when you are starting to play in bigger games where the competition have some idea what they are doing. For shorthanded play read Weighing the odds and Matt Maroons book. They have the best info on shorthanded games that is currently available although that might be about to change when Stoxtrader's book is released! |
