If you don't know about it, you should check out his website:

Local players know him to be extremely egotistic due to his success in publishing. When an older gentleman mentioned that he learned to play poker before all these books were written, Malmuth arrogantly replied "That is why you're playing 1-2 no limit" and then walked away.
