Default Notebook Repair Problem

I have an Acer Travelmate 5104 Laptop with 3 USB ports on the side. The laptop is out of warranty. The back two usb ports have suddenly stopped working, while the 1 closest to the front is still fine.

Is this something that can easily be repaired or a serious problem?

I know little about hardware so dont want to bring it into a local shop & have them charge me hundreds for a 5 minute job so am looking for info to arm myself with first.

Thanks in advance for any help.

More than likely this would require a motherboard replacement.

Buy a hub to split the good one if you need more. Limp along until it's time to buy a new one.

^^^ Good advice. More than likely the laptop is not worth the fix.
