Four hands in one
After two very good newbie months playing NL I had my first really big losin session today.Winning big without really grasping the fundamentals is surely nice but when you have a day like I had today you really start to feel the urge to learn the game better.
So if youŽd like to point out alternative strategies it would be very much appreciated. Hand 1. First one is a misclick preflop. Villain is 20/18/2.4. Re: Four hands in one
Hand 1 sucks. I fold the flop but once you hit the J it's all over baby.
You got screwed by sets on hands #2 and #3. Those are just coolers, nothing you can do. You achieved really low SPR's and the villains sucked out. Hand #4: "Has not 3-bet preflop once during those 300 hands." RED FLAG. You have to be able to fold mid and small overpairs on rag boards when it appears you may be getting pot stuck. Do it while the pot is small. A pattern I've picked up is the smallish, repeated value bet with an overpair. It almost looks like a chicken-out series of c-bets which is why it's easy to call down. |

[/ QUOTE ] Edited to say don't post results even in white because it's hard not to look at them! Anyway, Hand 2 and 3 are perfectly fine but maybe there could be some discussion on #1 and #4 (especially the read on the min 3-bet which I take to be AA-QQ when it's done by someone who has only re-raised pf 1/300 times.). |

Re: Four hands in one
Hand 1 I probably fold the flop, like the other guy said though once that turn comes there's nothing you can do. I'd probably get it all in to be honest, the only hands beating you are sets but AK/AA still pay you off. 88/66 would often fold to your 3bet too which makes them more unlikely.
Hand 2 I'd raise to more than $13 preflop, since it's btn v blind he's going to think your restealing a fair bit so will still call $15 with quite a bit. May aswell charge him. I'd bet less on the flop, not really any likely draws there so you want to keep Kx in the pot. I'd probably bet $21. Hand 3 I'd definitely bet more on the flop, it's much more drawy than hand 2 and 2nd best hands like QQ/KK can still call. Hand 4 I agree with the other guy, the min 3bet preflop should send alarm bells ringing, especially from somebody who doesn't raise preflop. I call the raise for sure but am looking to hit a set. A different line against this guy may be to donk the flop for say $3-$5, if he minraises then you get a cheap turn with good implied odds for your set. Players like this love the slowplay so I think they'd often just call a stupid bet like this too. I'm definitely not investing much more though once he's 3bet. |

Re: Four hands in one
Hand 1 Standard river push IMO.
Hand 2+3 He didn't get odds to hit his set, so you made money this is happening in every threebet pot for 100bb where villian hits his set. Hand 4 Either Bet/fold at some point, Call or fold turn. If you C/R your hand is a bluff. It does look like a better overpair though. |
