I have been running into these situations lately. Given the stack size, is this an easy commitment?

We have a bet going, I told a friend I would make just as much as him for the month playing on 40BB. Just kind of an experiment. I am also trying to get into the shortstackers head.

40bb is not short stacking. Calling KQ preflop(before BB raise)is not shortstacking.

1. Don't play short stacked unless you are intentionally playing short stack poker. And if you're short stacking, I think you're stack is too big. I'm not entirely sure because after the recent short stack illuminati thread I'm mostly just confused about anything other than everybody sucks at short stacking except for MyTurn2Raise, who explained only a fraction of the secret code, and a hand full of other people who won't explain why everybody else sucks. But based on what MyTurn2Raise said, I'm pretty sure you aren't a Choo Choo (what ever that is), and you should therefore play with a full stack.

2. I'd lead for $2.5 or $3 and possibly fold to a push if I think my opponent wouldn't push without at least AA-KK,AK,AsQs,AsJs. Vs {KK+,AKs,AsQs,AsJs,AKo} you have only 18.520% equity and you can fold to a push despite your short stack and the size of the pot at that point. Of course, if you're read on villain is that he'd push with a wider range over your donk bet given the stack sizes, then I supposed you'd have to call a push even over a donk bet.

3. As played for the check, CRAI is about all you can do since he'd cb with just about any hand that he'd raise with, and he might very well call with many hands that you beat given the stack sizes and the pot size at that point.

4. I think you should consider folding preflop, too, despite your good relative position and a mulit-way pot with KQs because of the size of your stack. You don't have good implied odds if you make a big hand. And you have pretty bad reverse implied odds relative to your stack if you hit top pair and get action. If you had more chips, you would want to play - but you'd be hoping for a bigger flop than top pair.
