Default Is this allowed in \"real\" casinos

I used to play in an underground cardroom in N. Carolina. The following happened couple of months ago.

It was a NL table 5/5 500 max.
I get QQ in CO. MP player raises to 30, folds to me.
I re-raise to 80. BB calls and MP does as well.
Flop is A 10 6 rainbow.
BB bets 100, MP raises to 250. I fold, BB calls.
Before the dealer flipped the turn card, the BB asked the MP "chop?"

MP agreed, and the dealer split the pot. I asked the dealer WTF?? and he said it is allowed. I felt like collusion was taking place so I racked up and left.

Does this happen in the casinos?

Opinions??

PS. If I didnt feel cheated, I would have loved to keep playing, because the table was full of donators. But I figured I would eventually tilt because of the colluders.

I've never seen this happen in a casino cardroom. I have heard of it in bigger games and, of course, we see players on High Stakes Poker trying to chop pots.

This isn't generally considered collusion, I think, but it definitely could be used that way by the wrong people. I don't think I would trust an underground club where they allowed this.

I play almost exclusively in underground clubs. You can't force another player out of a hand and then chop the pot. If the floor says different rack up and leave you're getting hosed.

I've never seen it in this form. But often when players fold such that only 2 remain in the hand, players can agree to check it down. But in that case both hands are shown down, making it stupid to collude.

In very high limit games this is allowed, but any player at the table can put a stop to it. I have actually seen a button that says "chopping allowed" on one side and "no chopping" on the other. Any player could turn it over so the no chopping side was up.
