Can somebody please prove Gavin Smith wrong for me. He said in that AJ would be a loser in everybody's database because of how deceptively mediocre it actually is, i think there's no way that can be true, i look in my DB and [censored], i'm losing 0.4BB/hand with AJ. Anybody!

[/ QUOTE ]

link to where he said this?

gavin has said many times on his poker radio shows that he doesn't play cash games. not sure how he all of a sudden became the authority on what hands and +EV and -EV. i really doubt he has much experience playing in 6max cash games online.

i wouldn't take his comment seriously.

[/ QUOTE ]

He said it in one of the recent episodes of poker road. And i'm almost certain he does play the side games at tournaments. He in general does have a pretty bad idea of poker fundamentals when it comes to the mathematical and more specifically, EV, side of things, so i was surprised when he was actually right (in my DB).

Actually, this is probably much more true when it comes to FR.

Pretty sure most long term winners will have AJ as a winner.

i don't have a reliable sample at 2/4 but AJ/AJs have always been decent winners for me.

you should be winning with all good top pair making hands when playing decent lineups. fish will make dominated top pairs and you'll stack them or win big pots

This is how you play KK. Very first hand of the table. I figured what the hell, why not try it and see if it works .

Prima Poker skin
No Limit Holdem Ring game
Blinds: $0.50/$1
6 players
Converter

Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is BB with K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
UTG folds, UTG+1 raises to $4, CO calls, Button calls, SB folds, Hero raises all-in $99, UTG+1 calls all-in $87.86, 2 folds.
Uncalled bets: $7.14 returned to Hero.

Flop: 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 all-in - Main pot: $19.22)

Turn: 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 all-in - Main pot: $192.22)

River: 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 all-in - Main pot: $192.22)

Results:
Final pot: $189.22
UTG+1 shows Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
Hero shows K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
