Default Semi Blind steal from Cut off

I was doing a semi-blind steal from the cutoff with this hand. The table has been pretty tight and the SB and BB had not played too many hands.
SB was fairly tight playing about 15% of hands and would try to steal blinds from late position when table folded around. Two hands he played to steal blinds were K/8 off and A/9 suited. I don't know much else about him.

Simply an awful limp, which isn't a steal, semi-steal or whatever you're calling it. If you're going to play that hand, raise it.

Just call the flop c/r. I probably try to get to showdown HU w/o seeing another flush card, straight card or overcard, but we're hard pressed to have that happen.

You're right. I'm such a dumba## I didn't raise there. I double checked the hand history to make sure it was correct and I limped. Terrible play.
Thanks for pointing that out as I looked at that hand a few times and missed the limp.
That is how these forums help.

WTF is a "semi-steal?" Either raise this pre-flop or fold it.

IMO raise (steal) preflop or fold. I fold it more often than I raise it. I definitely fold it if there are any limpers or a raise ahead.

Flop bet is OK but I can't call the raise. Raise tells me we are behind and drawing to a 5 outer at best. Maybe just two.

As played I check/fold the turn. Possibly drawing dead.

And check or fold the river.

My opinion overall is this type of hand should only be played occassionally and while this might have been an OK spot; if we play it we have to play it very aggressively early and get away from if when we are challenged. Just an underinformed opinion from a cheap seat nit

*grunch*

How do you make a blind steal without raising pre-flop?

SB c/r on the flop is a real bad sign. Lay it down

I don't think the c/r necessarily means we're behind. There are a lot of things that a villain might c/r this board, many of which we're ahead.

JT, any two diamonds, any PP from 44-88, a gutshot straight draw (which is what I put villain on after river (T8 or KJ), 9x.

We're behind any Q, 33, TT or JJ (but those would be likely raised pf).

I don't think folding the flop here is a good option. The river can be folded though.
