They need more players to attract more players. Bad and sad but true.

I think if you post in three threads, you might get someone interested in playing at WPEX. Try it.

If they were smart they would lower the rb % slightly and use the power of affiliate marketing and you would see some players there. 2+2 word of mouth isn't going to do anything.

If they cared (I'm sure they're quite smart), they'd rephrase/modify the promotion to be less boring for gamblers. Appeal to people's less rational instincts a little, even their egos. My favourite idea is changing it to getting the rake back on pots you won, which has the advantages of appealing to player's egos, being slightly more exciting (especially if there's feedback in the software for this) as it's no longer a passive process, being a more accurate model of a rake free site (which fixes the playing tight to maximise rakeback/rake payed problem that seems to plague wpex) and having better marketing possibilities. Also, hire a new web designer. If I were a fish, I wouldn't want to play there either.

Why in the name of God don't they market it like this:

"We pay you to play poker! Yes folks, we pay you $20 for every 1,000 hands of 100NL you play! No strings attached!"

No?

This is the reason why Party and Stars don't believe much in rakeback. They say all the time that rakeback players are a minority and that marketing for rb would be pointless for them. The average joe doesn't care about rakeback since they don't know what it is. Which is pretty well proven by wpex who only has a few tables going, filled with 2+2ers.

As others have mentioned, marketing it to attract a wider audience would probably be a smart move. Give 70% rakeback to players and up to 30% to their affiliates or whatever. And don't market it as rakeback, market it as a bonus or as Chomp said. For nl100 get $60 bonus per 1000 hands would probably get some interest.

IF rakeback players would be a majority of a all the online players, things would probably be different. But this shines a bit of light why Stars, Party, OnGame, iPoker etc thinks it's -EV to offer legit RB.

Marketing it as $/hand is nearly as bad as rakeback. The thing is that these are gamblers, they don't want a sure thing.

What a pointless OP. This is discussed in the zoo all the time. No fish, no good way to deposit and cashouts are slow.
