Default Why did he play it like this? J9dd 15/30

I didn't play this hand and am wondering if this is expert or donkey

Hero opens J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] in the CO, button - a thinking player who is kinda passive for this game 3-bets (still wide range here) hero calls

flop is T96r

Hero c/c's

Turn 2

Hero c/r's, villain calls

River Q

Hero bets, Villain calls

I don't get this hand, why c/r the turn?

You never think of doing this? It punishes people who fire 2 every time with their whole range. If the guy checks behind a decent amount with 6- or 10-out hands on this turn, it sucks bad because you're only checkraising when he has something good. So I would say it's something to mix into your standard OOP play so that you're not always just c/r, betting or c/c, c/folding.

with a stronger hand yeah

obv i was button and vs me this is terrible which is why i was so confused

you make this play with 2nd pair miles?

I'm trying to figure out if it also protects his hand vs. overs + gutshots and i don't think so

Danza you bet turn with AK here? This isn't a bad line against the type of guys who will play AK/AQ this way, call the checkraise and call a river bet unimproved. It maximizes actually. This has a good metagame effect of making you check behind more turn cards (good for him because he can peel flop and see river frequently). I think this is a good changeup to checkraising the flop and should be done from time to time.

Seems good to me. People bet in villian's position way more than optimum on this turn.

DD,

You play some hands like he does here?

Basically i know i'm not the best player at my limits, at all. I wonder why someone beats the game for more then I do and then I saw this hand and it like opened up a whole can of worms vs me. It's tricky in limit.

It's like I understand how people lose, and how people can't beat the games. I can see that so easily, it's like insinct. But I can't see how people win more than I do. And that's dumb of me.

This play is so crazy to me because it's essentially high risk but I can't 3-bet the turn without a really strong hand because he's shown such strength. I can't play well against this raise.

So he can fold to a 3-bet.

Plus he gets called down sooooo light here.
