Weird line people have been taking vs. me lately
People generally love to weirdplay me cuz I'm too loose and agro in their opinion. However, this line is kinda awkward and while I think I know what to do in online 6max games, I'm not so sure about live.
Live 30/60 Villain1 is a passive tight player who is prob .75 bb/hour winner. He opens 5 off the button and I 3-bet in HJ with QQ, all fold to him and he calls. Flop is K75r He c/r's me, I call. Turn is 5, he checks... Villain2 is a self-taught live pro who probably has the same WR as the other guy but he plays much less logically and a fair amount looser. He has medium aggression. I open 4 off the button with Tc9c, folded to Villain2 who calls in SB (2/3 structure) and BB folds. Flop is: Qc 5h 2d He cr's me, I call. Turn is Jc, he checks... |

Lol, no. The premise is great. Hopefully, someone who has thought more about this will chime in.

Raising T9s in EP (or EMP if you're being generous) might be contributing to your image.

Re: Weird line people have been taking vs. me lately
In hand 1, you can make an exploitable bet / fold with a fair amount of confidence. Very few players will check-raise bluff when they have the initiative. I mean, why check-raise bluff when you can just bet and get just as many folds? It takes ridiculous courage... or stupidity, however you want to look at it.
Given that, his turn check looks very much like he wants to show down and is afraid to bet into you because you are aggressive. Value bet turn and river, get paid by everything. hand 2: it's much harder to say. Obviously you'd lean toward checking given the logic in hand 1, as your opponent appears to be scared but ready to showdown. Then again, your huge draw means you are probably getting 15:1 to semibluff this turn, maybe even more since it's possible a T or 9 could even be could on the river. I guess if the guy plays goofy poker you have to bet. check-raise / check-fold is a pretty weird line, but this guy should do it often enough to justify a bet given the odds you are receiving. good luck. Re: Weird line people have been taking vs. me lately
Elindauer,
I agree wholeheartedly with you about hand 1 if this were online 6max against a 30/20/2. Does the fact that this is full ring live against a 18/13/2 change things? As for hand 2, I just don't see anybody folding on this street. Maybe if I bet/bet I can get a fold though... |

[/ QUOTE ] I actually think it's more appropriate against a live player. I'd be more concerned with highly aggressive online players taking advantage of my attempt to fold extra hands. [/ QUOTE ] I agree that it seems unlikely, but 15:1 (maybe better!) doesn't require many folds to make a bet right. Note that your mind is working against you here. If you get 1 fold in 11 attempts you'll surely feel like you are failing, but in fact you'll be making money. Any river bluffs that get setup by the turn bet are just icing on the cake. I don't think you need to bluff the river to make a turn bet profitable (though a river bluff may be good, and certainly you should bluff sometimes purely from a game theory point of view). good luck. eric |

Re: Weird line people have been taking vs. me lately
Hand 1 is an easy value-bet on the turn. If you get check raised I think with your image I'd 3-bet.
Hand 2. It sounds like your image sucks. Fold pre-flop, failing that check behind on the flop, failing that fold to the flop check/raise, failing that for god's sake check behind on the turn now that you have some outs. |
