I love this time of year. Delusional SC fans get excited about one win and start forgetting about losing to stanford at home, losing to Oregon, beating Arizona by 1TD at home, beating Washington by a FG, Cal by a TD, and focus on the most recent victory.

[/ QUOTE ]
Funny how we were missing a ton of guys for all those games including the qb for 3/5 of those games. Funny how now that we're healthy we beat the best or second best team in the pac 10 by 20 points in their house. Oregon won by 12 in their own house, and needed two unbelievably boneheaded turnovers by ASU when they were in scoring position to even have that margin of victory. We were only going to beat teams like AZ by small margins because our offensive coordinator didn't trust Sanchez and called ridiculously conservatively plays, like consistently running it on 3rd and long. I made a post to a similar effect right after that game, and said to expect narrow margins of victory as long as Sanchez stayed in.

The best was walking out of the Rose Bowl last year and hearing some SC fan say, "so there's a real chance we'll be #1!!

[/ QUOTE ]
Was this after we lost to UCLA or after we pounded Michigan? Either way Sagarin's final ratings had USC #1 in the predictor and #2 overall. Didn't get to the national championship b/c of the boneheaded UCLA loss but still were probably the best team in the country.

This is the homer in you talking. USC is significantly better at 20 of the 22 starting positons on the field.

[/ QUOTE ]

No way. USC's offense has been nothing special this year.

It is time for my fellow Cogar fans and I to celebrate the end of the Alex Brink era, and hopefully, the end of the Bill Doba era.

Also, today's game is supposed to be in HD.

Give us Dixon, Paysinger, Colvin, Johnson and Bacon back and we will beat a fully healthy USC 7 times out of 10 on a neutral site.

The times Booty plays as well as Dixon, which would be many, Oregon would have no chance.

[/ QUOTE ]

No chance? Have you even seen Oregon play this year other than one game?

Which games did USC look so impressive? Nebraska? Neb sucks. WSU? Who doesn't kick the hell out of them?

ASU was impressive, but that's just one game.

To say Oregon would have no chance is ridiculous.

This is the homer in you talking. USC is significantly better at 20 of the 22 starting positons on the field. Stewart isn't that far ahead of the guys USC throws out there. Dixon is a huge edge over Booty, but I'd still make USC a 6 point favorite against Oregon on a neutral field. The times Booty plays as well as Dixon, which would be many, Oregon would have no chance.

[/ QUOTE ]

Are you just assuming that you have an edge at, say, RT or are you actually that knowledgeable of both teams?

You know, 'cuz you're kinda talking out of your ass.

It's just so unfair that SC has to suffer injuries while the rest of the conference skates by unscathed.

So many SC fans seem to believe that potential is all that matters. Well, when you don't live up to that potential... I mean sure, USC was a good team last year. But they lost to a pretty lousy UCLA team in the final regular season game for their second loss on the season. Sure, SC probably has the best collection of talent this year in all of college football, but they lost at home to the dregs of the Pac-10. I certainly agree that SC could have been a great team this year. However, barely beating 2 of the weakest teams in teh Pac10 and losing to a third doesn't disappear with one 20 point over a decent ASU team.

As a side issue, can we all agree that ASU was significantly overranked? Their OOC schedule was a joke and they get beat by double digits by SC and Oregon, sneak by several other schools. I wouldn't be surprised if they lose next week to Arizona.

Well, USC is bigger, stronger, and just as fast as Oregon. USC has three wideouts that look like first round talents, two RBs, a TE, and virtually their entire defense. When the QB plays well, I don't care if it's Booty, Sanchez, or some 4'8" pirate ninja, that team is going to win. Period.

[ QUOTE ]
I wouldn't be surprised if they lose next week to Nogales Tech.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is the game that will define our season. A ten win year and possible Fiesta Bowl is a good campaign no matter what. A loss, well, that would be a problem, even with a trip to the Holiday Bowl.
