($100+rebuy) Charity tournee question

Hi all,

not sure if this is the right forum. I will be playing a charity tournee ($100+1 rebuy during the 1st hour). The play is for prizes of considerable value. I expect the field to be pretty light. Do I need to make any adjustments to the standard strategy (I follow Harrington's books pretty closely).

If you are only allowed to take one rebuy, take it at the very beginning (if possible) and play the rest of the tournament as usual

As I understand it - it's a rebuy, not an add-on. So what you're saying is that I should be aggressively looking to double up or rebuy in the first hour? Am I correct?

Whenever I've played tourneys with only 1 rebuy allowed, I've been allowed to rebuy right at the beginning, so I'd have 3000 chips right off the bat. If you can't do this than you're probably best off just playing normally basically and rebuying if you lose. Maybe a little looser than normal during the rebuy hour.

If you're only allowed to rebuy, not add on, then the only strategy adjustment is to watch for the guys who'll call down lots because they can rebuy and there will be lots of them. At least that's how the second chance tournies play on Prima (you can addon on FWIW, but nobody does, they just spaz off 1500 chips and then turn into rocks)

wayyyyyyyyy ot, but:

hey alex-star, im in the local lions club and am organizing a very similar tournament. could you pm me on specifics on the one youre participating in. I was planning on 50-100 players and think that the 'prize pool' will consist of the initial entries, and the rebuys/addons will go to the charitable fund.
