50NL - When to slow down with AA?

This type of situation basically applies to any overpair. When do we slow down?

Villain is 50/9/2.3 over 80 hands.

Do I continue betting? If so, how much? Should I check/call a bet that isn't too large?

It's not any overpair, it's AA [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

He's made it hard to work out a hand by calling everything, but his line is chasing a flush. You are beaten by trips, which isn't impossible to imagine here, but I wouldn't think many people would let a player possibly outdraw to the flush with trips. A check/call will give him every opportunity to bluff, so I'd only do that if you are pretty sure you have him beat, and want him to think you've missed your flush after all. Bet anywhere from $7 up I would think.

I would raise more preflop, at least pot it. I hate playing any hand OOP, especially against multiple opponents, so you want to charge them the maximum to have position on you.

As for the river it's really a math/read problem, how often do you think he will bluff a whiffed draw? Some players at this level will never bluff a missed draw, if this is true you should probably c/fold.

I would normally c/c the river because your hand is pretty strong but it can't get three streets of value on this board, but it can get some bluff equity from missed draws. If you're real good you might be able to fold the river but AA is just too strong a hand here, I am c/c 100% of the time and probably never betting

He's got 2/3s of a PSB left.. put him in. He's a halfstack, you have pocket aces, and a nonscary board. Don't overthink it.

If he has a set be happy he wasn't fullstacked and move on.

You don't think this is a WA/WB situation? This guy's range is huge. It seems like he only calls with the rest of his stack here with at least 2 pair. The J probably didn't do much for him, but if he was playing a donkish A9o, the J might scare him from calling a big bet.

PNL does a good job of dealing with this. A nice comfortable stack-to-pot ratio on the flop for committing yourself with big overpairs against an average player is 6:1 and this is pretty much right there. Putting him in on the river is fine.

As a note, a good SPR is one where you will be profitable against an opponents all-in range if the hand goes all-in by showdown. In this case it means that over the long run if you get AA in against an average villain with an SPR of 6:1 you will be turning a profit.

Shove the river..Absent a read this villains CALLING range is way wider then his betting range...Villain only has $16 so OP can not fold..Any bet less then a putting villain AI is losing EV...If villain is calling less then AI he's calling an AI...
