This happened to me in a b&m one time and i was on the tail end of a 40hr session so ididn't even notice. The next day when i tried to get in my box they pulled the signature card so i would have to go to the main cage. They were all ready with video tape in hand showing i was paid 1k too much and asked for the money back.

I did a money gram depisot for 70.00 dollers threw stars. The teller at money gram typed in 700.00 sure enough i get home and there is 700 in my account. No one said anything. I kept it without any remorse. This is a cut throat world and industry for that matter.Karma and all that stuff about what goes around comes around is all garbage. Keep the money and have a good time. If you really feel bad donate it to youre favroit chartiy. DO NO GIVE IT BACK TO THEM.

[/ QUOTE ]

If you knew the solution to the error was that ultimately the teller had to pay the $630 difference out of his/her pocket and you figured this teller was making min. wage, would you still let the mistake work in your favor?

My conscience finally gave in and i called support. I alerted them of the issue at hand and as someone had posted, it didnt seem like they believed me. Basically what i did was inform them that there was a mistake concerning my cashout, but i didnt go into much detail. I also emailed them telling them that their might have been a mistake with the size of the check sent just so i have some doucumented proof prooving i reported this incase they try and pin me for fraud. Most likely their payment team will email me tomorrow and tell me that their was a mistake. So tell me, have i done the right thing here? If there support team still doesnt catch on even after i pointed them in the right direction should i keep the money in good conscience.

Just because its a large company, or some faceless entity that probably wouldn't miss it, doesn't exempt you from being decent. Tell them you think they made a mistake let them investigate you might have been eligible for a bonus that you weren't aware of or something else. If thats the case they'll tell you to keep it.

You either have integrity or not, you have to tell them and if its a mistake send it back. If its not a mistake then enjoy the money and feel no guilt.

[/ QUOTE ]

MrFizzbin got it exactly right... integrity & honesty are most important character traits we have as respectable poker players. (Hell, as respectable human beings.)

Your poker site EARNED their money by providing / hosting a service that you value, that's why we pay rake. Just because they might have an eight or nine digit bank account balance, doesn't make it OK to take something you know isn't yours.

And yeah, after you make a good faith effort to bring the error to their attention, if they still believe the money is yours... by all means, go have a blast with it. Good times!

All that your conscience should demand is that you inform them that you suspect there is an error (which you did). It's their job now to find it. If they half ass it, so be it.
(You can't be results orientated, consider that underpayment is also in their range. The times they don't catch this overpayment is balanced by the times they insist on underpayment.)

Zanfieff, you have my admiration for reporting this... you definitely have done all you need to do. It's up to them to find the error now.

By all means, if they cannot find an error, that money is all yours... I'm looking forward to finding out how this shakes out.
