Wasn't around back then, but I find it funny that the one site that turned out to actually be rigged stuck around that long afterwards...

oh well. What's this 'Delta' you speak of?

The 1st big poker site until someone hacked it and could read cards. They never recovered.

Here's a link to the RNG-hacking story (written by the "hackers" themselves, who turned out to have benign rather than malicious motives) -- prob one of the coolest stories a good chunk of the poker-playing public still doesn't know about.

Weep, weep. Opened my account in 2000. A GREAT place to
play 7 stud. At the time the only other sites were Delta
and then Paradise. I think the first nail in their coffin
was the fact they closed every (Tuesday?) for an hour in
the morning for server upgrade. All the players bailed
and once the other sites had good games , why come back.
Anyway I always liked Planet.. RIP

It was the 'friendliest little cardrroom on the net' IIRC. It really was as well. Run by a group of Australians 97-98, but then more or less killed by Paradise and Planet.

Delta Poker still exists as an ACR skin. They have been a stand alone, then on the failed YPN Network, then they went to ACR's Network on Dobrosoft and moved to ONgame with ACR and friends. I have no idea if Joey and Ciro are still involved. They are/were both class acts.

Too bad. I always had a soft spot for Planet, as it was the first site where I had consistent success online and it is where I developed my strange taste for draw and lowball. Unfortunately a variety of bad decisions doomed the site to what it was the last few years, a backwater of micro-stakes gamed played by the same group of regulars. The site kept leaking players and had no way to get them back without advertising or a decent player base/game selection to compete with Stars, Tilt, etc.

gg lol tyvm

It wasnt rigged, just crackable. They changed their rng after that.

It's been years and I cant remember my login for Planet. Dunno if I've got anything kicking around in that account or not. Was hoping it'd be like finding a $20 in pocket of my jeans.

It wasn't rigged, the RNG was just cracked by a team of computer experts.
