Betfolding in barcelona
Early on 10k effective, 50/100 I open AK to 300 from utg+1 I think, one caller from MP, so pot is 750. Flop comes A72r and I´m not as good at math as I like to think so I only bet 400, he calls. Turn is a 4 putting 2 clubs on the board, I bet 800 (again, thought pot was smaller), he calls. River is an offsuit ace, I bet 1600 (sigh), he makes it 6k, I fold.
no reads other than appearance... he´s a probably 20 something european but I cant tell from where, wearing this really weird lavendar/purple shirt with like an electric koolaid death patch on it and a few other weird designs. |

Re: Betfolding in barcelona
I call the river. Villain could have a lower ace or be making a play.
Flop bet size seems OK. Turn half pot also OK. Don't mind checking the turn or betting a little more. |

or be making a play. [/ QUOTE ] Surely that's very unlikely indeed. We bet three streets on a ragged ace high flop. WE HAVE AN ACE. |

[/ QUOTE ] OP was the preflop raiser and half pot cbet a raggedy ace high flop. OP bet half pot on all streets. OP could certainly bluff the paired board on the river. Also, villain could think OP has an ace with a lower kicker and would fold it. |

Re: Betfolding in barcelona
Christ knows what the field is like at EPT events but if we like a weak ace enough to raise from ep and then bet three streets into a cold caller, we like it enough to call with it. He's not expecting us to fold trips. There's no value in raising if we don't have an ace.
This is not a play on his part ever. He's got a boat or he has an ace. Granted, he could easily be stupid enough to raise with zomg trip aces (and any kicker). That's why this spot is messy. |

Re: Betfolding in barcelona
The bet size is a pretty big tell. I don't think he's bluffing often at all, so we're really only concerned about whether he's trying to raise for value with worse Aces. Even bad players realize raising AT here is thin after you bet three times, so although they may do it, they are probably going to raise smaller to make it easier for you to call with a worse Ace or KK or something. Good fold.

Re: Betfolding in barcelona
I think this is a bad fold, sorry. You underbet the pot twice and he didn't raise either time, I think that makes a weaker ace so much more likely than set/2p that you should call.
