Default About soundtracks (music thread)

There are a few different questions to be answered here. Hopefully this will generate enough discussion on the topic of soundtracks.

What is the best overall soundtrack?

What is the best instrumental soundtrack?

What is the best soundtrack for a bad movie? (e.g. the 1996 version of Romeo + Juliet is bad, but the soundtrack is something special.)

What is the worst soundtrack for a great movie? (Invert the above.)

Anything John Williams has done is pretty awesome, though he does seem to just rehash old themes nowadays.

Jurassic Park is my personal fave.

The 2 soundtracks I actually have on my mp3 player are Requiem for a Dream and The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. I haven't been really tempted to put any others on.

I think the Lord of The Rings soundtrack is absolutely superb.

On Classic FM yesterday they played 'hymn to the fallen' from Saving Private Ryan, that was nice.

I currently have two soundtracks on my iPod - I am Sam & Garden State. Both are excellent from beginning to end.

the ones that I like a lot are, in no specific order:

Royal Tenenbaums
Requiem for a Dream
Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (all Seu Jorge, brazillian guitarrist/singer who is pretty cool if you ask me)

I don't listen to a lot of soundtracks, but I really like a lot off of the Garden State soundtrack.
