Re: SEC football > all other football
[ QUOTE ]
The reason the SEC is the best conference is that each of those teams is playing at 110% every. single. game. 2/3 of the schedules of most teams are SERIOUS INTENSE rivelries with a century of tradition/hate for each other. Teams like Ohio State get to roll over teams like Kent State for most of their season. It's not really their fault, but they just don't have the same competition. [/ QUOTE ] But zomg the Big 10 has been around longer than the SEC so they've had more time to accumulate some SERIOUS INTENSE hatred, no SUPER SERIOUSLY AND INTENSE HATRED, for each other and give 115% to the SEC's 110% EVERY. SINGLE. GAME. AND BYE WEEK. See how stupid arguments like those are? The point is that nobody knows jack [censored] in college football for sure because things change so, so much every year. |

Re: SEC football > all other football
People who know football have somewhat of an idea what is going on college football. apparently more than u'd seem to think. Kirk Herbstreit get's paid $100k's to be a college football specialist on ESPN, yet, a few weeks ago he had Penn St. @ #5. So not everyone knows what they're talking about.
Indiana V. Purdue is a huge grudge match every year, but they could try '125%' and still wouldn't be able to play good football. there's obviously a large talent gap b/w these conferences. & imo, if Les Miles wasn't suicidal, LSU would be the obvious best team in the country, rather than the best team in the country. imo, coaching is closing a huge gap in college football. Jim Tressel will go down as an all-time great, while people like Les Miles, Nick Saban, Pete Carroll obviously wouldn't even show up for then game unless they were being paid. |

Re: SEC football > all other football
ahahahahahaaqhahahahahaha
i win. i really just wanted to start a poo flinging contest so i tried to be outlandish. IT WORKED YOU ARE ALL MY POO FLINGING PUPPETS AHAHAHA. And BTYS, SEC is far far far better than the Pac-10. ASU would be like #3 or #4 over here. Oregon maybe could compete, Dixon has skills. Cal-Tennesse are 1-1 against each other the last two years so that's a wash. As for SEC teams not playing good teams out of conference, i can't speak for every team in the SEC but UGA head-hunts good teams from other conferences. We always play GT, who has gone to like 7 straight bowls. This year we beat up on OSU, who was supposed to have a ZOMG offense, but got exposed. Last year, we played Colorado who was coming off of two straight Big-12 north titles, and beat them. Next 2 years we play ASU who suddenly looks ZOMG awesome according to PAC10 peoples. Except that nearly half the SEC would be favorites against them on a neutral field. I'll put some cash down on that game when the time comes if you want to. SEC will play FSU twice, South Florida, Cal, Georgia Tech, Clemson, Louisville, VT, Kansas State, OK State, Wake Forest, W Virginia, Mizzou, and more. Nobody's ducking anyone, as far as the weak "SEC doesn't play good teams" argument goes. SEC might get 11 bowl eligible teams. sickness. SEC >>>> all |

Re: SEC football > all other football
The SEC leads the Pac-10 59-36-5 (.615).
The SEC leads the Big Ten with a 63-45-2 all-time record. The SEC leads the Big 12 in all-time head-to-head match-ups with an 17-15-0 (.531) record. Against the Big 12's predecessor (the Big Eight) the SEC had a 43-43-6 (.500) record. The SEC holds an 245-114-10 (.678) all-time advantage over the ACC. SEC vs Big East football record is shows the Big East with a 17-13 (.567) advantage. All of these games are after 1990. I don't have the data for how assorted Big East teams (miami, VT, etc.) performed against SEC teams before they were the big east, pre-1990. You can guess how it worked out, considering that The Big east has the worst bowl winning % of any major conference. |

Re: SEC football > all other football
by virtue of their losing record to the SEC? or perhaps by virtue of the fact that they only win 48% of their bowl games historically, second worst among major conferences?

Have you ever been to UGA/FL (the world's largest outdoor cocktail party)? Did you see what happened at UF/UGA after the first TD? They basically gave up a free TD there, knowing those penalties would happen. All the teams in the SEC think they can win any given saturday, and play like it. This just doesn't happen in other conferences. OSU doesn't even have a competitor half as good in their own state. You can basically never pick who's gonna win the SEC preseason, or even who's gonna be in the top 3 (or 5 sometimes). This is simply not true for the PAC 10 (injuries aside this season, USC would destroy everyone) or the Big 10. |
