Default Vegas on Monday for the first time/need suggestions

so going from the 5-9 of november, with 6 friends.
the group is mostly couples, which sucks, but i figured i could make up for it with frequent trips to spearmint rhino.

its my birthday on the 7th, and we're going to club LAX.
should be great.

need suggestions for:
-best restaraunts (semi fancy/expensive.)
-best place to play 1000-2000 nl.
-must see attractions (no shows please.)

staying at MGM.

there's a ton of info on Vegas in the B&M forum. also I think there's a thread in EDF. do some searches.

there's not really anything "must see" in Vegas other than the strip itself. Vegas is all about whatever you want.

Delmonico at the Venetian is one of the best steakhouses you'll ever go to.

As eviljeff pointed out, the B&M forum is a good place to search for these topics. Before the travel forum existed, B&M was the spot for all things Vegas, so the past threads have a lot of info.

Dining

You will first want to see the gigantic Vegas restaurant thread.

One thing I can tell you now is that with that many people, you should definitely make reservations. Good thing is there are a lot of nice dining options for you in MGM (Craftsteak, Emeril's, etc.).

There are a lot of restaurants mentioned in that thread. If you are still looking for suggestions, post something specific here. As in, "hey, we have 6 people and we are looking to spend $80 each and have good seafood, but one of us is a vegetarian."

Bigger NL Games

As for big no-limit games, the Wynn features uncapped NL games. Caesars has a 2/5 NL game with an uncapped buy-in. And the Golden Nugget downtown has a 1/2 NL game with no cap on the buy-in.

Attractions

This is your first trip to Vegas so there will be no lack of things to see. Just seeing the various Strip properties can be a treat. The only must-see is the Bellagio fountains. But you will have no problem doing that, and you will discover for yourself other spots you really enjoy.

Here is a view of the replica Eiffel tower:

Right across the street from that are the Bellagio fountains. They run until midnight, going off every half hour (15 minutes some times of the year).

Inside is worth seeing, too. Be sure to take a look at the flower conservatory. The display changes all the time, this was from a few years ago:

The MGM has lions inside. The Mirage has all the animals that were part of the Sigfried and Roy show, as well as dolphins. That costs money to see and has day hours, but sometimes you can see the white tiger in the Mirage entrance hallway for no charge:

That's certainly true of the fish tanks at the Mirage hotel lobby.

If you like antique cars, the Imperial Palace has a large collection and it is pretty easy to find discounted or free entrance tickets.

As a gambler, you should also take some time to see some of the larger sportsbooks, like Mandalay Bay or Caesars. Real treat for the degenerate in you.

No Shows

Really? I'm curious why this stand.

When traveling with a group, seeing a show is a common thing to do, along with lounging at the pool.
