I was also lamblasted for saying Gus Hansen was rumored to have left the country for awhile over poker losses, well, this from Wikepidia:

First of all like someone else said, Wikipedia is often very inaccurate. In fact everytime I've looked something up I happen to know a lot about, I've found mistakes galore.

The Hansen busto myth is getting very tired. I believe it was started by Bluff magazine when he was absent from the Wsop.

Fact is that Gus Hansen with Pokerchamps, which he later sold and made millions from, had a poker tv show to appear in and take care of back home. Add to that, that he doesn't care about the Wsop very much. Save the main event and HORSE, where I believe he will do very well in the years to come.
It's well known that he lost in the beginning in the big game, but according to several sources, he has had a lot of success since (been losing in the big game during this wsop though). Including in Larry Flynt's stud game. I know that he won money when Ivey won big against Andy Beal too.
I really don't think anything indicates that he is broke. Sits down with 400k and plays for, and very often wins, tons of money online.
