Yeah.. this fold looks silly unless you're really sure UTG's limp is strong.

Yes, but in this instance I think this actually argues for a fold since we didn't lead out with the FD. UTG is still to act as well and he either donked off a 1/5 of his stack from the worst preflop position or he has a monster and is trying to trap. Deciding to shove or peel instead of fold is very dependent on any reads on UTG.

Setting aside whether this kind of trickery is ever a good idea, what flop could be better than this one to check it through one time trying to get anyone to put a few more chips in before he slams the door on you?
