Default Doyles Room rip off

First of all I want to apologize if this is not the proper thread for this post, but I could not find a thread for whining about getting screwed by a name you thought you could trust.

I just completed a hard earned 25000 points on the Doyles
Room poker site and instead of getting a leather bound set of Super System 1 and 2 I have been told basically to go fondle myself and be happy that I can transfer my action points to full tilt at a rate of one full tilt point for every 12 action points earned at Doyles Room. The management claims that they could all be arrested for sending a package to an address in the US with the return address belonging to an online poker site.

I basically signed up a Doyles Room to try and collect these books (I am a sucker for poker books) and because I figured that any site that was associated with Doyle Brunson would be a good place to play. I mean he does gurantee that your money will be safe on his site in those adds in Card Player.

I just looked on the Doyles Room site and they are still offering the books as a signup bonus.

Again, sorry if this is the wrong forum and about the whining but I am really mad and disappointed about getting lied to by a brand I thought I could trust.

I did not get my partially cleared bonus or books either.

I am hoping to at least get my rakeback.

They have the right to discontinue their promotion whenever they want so ... tough luck.

Yeah I know .. The thing is though, is that they have not discontinued the promotion. They are still offering the books on the site right now.

I know that there is really nothing I can do about this but It did make me feel good to get if off of my chest

Swillis,

Doyle's network shut them out as far as US players are concerned, and they don't really have any good choices for moving to a different network.

I can't see putting full responsibility for what's going on with them, on Doyle.

So will Doyle's Room change its name?

I can't see how Doyle can promote the site considering how hard he has courted US players to go there.

I know I started at Doyle's Room because of their pro-US stance when PokerRoom kicked me out.

I wish I had a big enough roll to quit my dayjob. I'd pack up and move to Thailand or the Bahamas or something.

What do you mean you can't put the responsiblity on Doyle Brunson?

I am sure he receeives royalties for his image and name form Doyle's Room. I have read his works and he is a very honest and good person. Surely if he was informed that his books weren't being awarded as promised, he would have a fit. Certainly, he would let the site know about his displeasure with this type of fraud. The fact he was giving away those leatherbound editions is the reason a lot of players signed up. Doyle would not want to tarnish his name for his association with this type of failure.

Contact Doyle if at all possible. He would make good on what was agreed to initially, personally, if not thru the site.

Doyle's network shut them out as far as US players are concerned, and they don't really have any good choices for moving to a different network.

I can't see putting full responsibility for what's going on with them, on Doyle.

nineinch,

I wasn't specifically refering to the issue with the book (contacting Doyle directly to get the book, is a good idea)... but the broader Doyle's Room issue of closing to US players, doesn't fall squarely on his shoulders.

ps to Mike H... this was moved from Legislation...

Hey Sniper,

I agree with you that the responsiblity wouldn't fall squarely on his shoulders.

I just feel Doyle would not be happy with this sort of crap.I would like to get a happy ending to this story, with Doyle being the hero.

I don't know what it costs to live in Thailand, but if you wanted to live in Phillipines, $500US a month puts you in the middle class. My wife and I have property through her family there, and $60K US gets you a pretty nice house in a gated community.

I've considered it, except that I don't like the heat.

And they have some wild NL games in the casino near our property.
