I really don't see how they can be dead. It makes no sense.

Plus, little things like Locke saying the "nothing stays buried" and the guy in the beginning saying they can write Nikki "back in next season" makes me think this can't be a completely worthless, throwaway episode. Please don't be worthless.

I'm trying to think of something it explained, and I can't really. It did give us some addittional insight into previous events. And it was entertaining.

That last sentence is the most important for me. I know I say this practially every week, but Lost could go on for 50 years without fully explaining everything, and as long as it was entertaining I'd be satisfied.
