When does stuff start happening in the wire? I'm on the 5th episode and nothing is going on. Does it get better? Is season 1 really slow?

You have to get past the first few chapters before it envelops you. You're right at the point, though, where you'll either become a fan or decide it's not your style. Episode 6 or so is where things start to kick off.

i have been waiting for a wire thread to get bumped so i could ask this.
during season one when herc, and then the entire team, are trying to fit a desk through a door, what is he missing? lester sits there the whole time as if he knows something everyone else doesn't, and then eventually they all realize it at once. i am still in the dark. what is up with this scene?

So it didn't move b/c they were working against each other...or something like htat.
