Watching the San Jose/Nashville game go into double OT reminded me of some of my favorite OT games.

First was in 1996, during the Capitals Penguins series. I was 10 years old, and I remember how big of a deal it was that my mom was letting me stay up so late on a school night. Between a penalty shot in double OT, and ridiculous goaltending from Ken Wregget and I think Jim Carey? Nedved's celebration was my main memory though. Check it out here.

I was at that game, and was 10 years old as well. The 2OT penalty shot was taken by Joey Juneau, and I remember the puck was bouncing around as he took it to the net because the ice was so jacked up from all the skating on it. Then he bricked the shot of course, the friggin Pens won, but I got to miss school the next day cause I got outta the arena at 330am...

As a Penguins fan, the ones I remember the most are the Caps game in 1996 and the Flyers game in 2000.

I was a junior in high school when the Caps game happened and I stayed up to watch the whole thing with my parents... I was dragging the next day at school. I remember walking into my math class after lunch and as soon as I walked in the door the teacher looked at me and said "you watched that whole game, didn't you?"

During the Flyers game in 2000 I was a junior in college, and had a 7:45AM final the next morning. Sitting in the dorm room, my roommate asked me "what are you gonna do if it's time for your final and they're still playing?" and I said "I'll e-mail the professor and stay right here." No way was I moving from that seat (and the final took less than an hour anyway when 7:45 rolled around).

I was at the infamous Brett Hull foot in the crease 1999 Dallas/Buffalo game 6 Cup Finals game here in Buffalo. My dad bought 4 tickets from the newspaper the day before for $600 a pop. Great game, very bad result. I remember looking at my dad right after Hull scored and telling him his foot was in the crease, sure enough thats all that was on talk radio when we hit the car.

I also remember the NJ/Buffalo Dave Hannan game from 1994 a poster above referenced.

And no Sabres fan can forget the 1993 sweep clinching Brad May goal to knock off the Bruins.

May Day

I was at game 1 Buffalo vs. Philly last year.

Everyone was kinda nervous when Gagne scored to tie it up in the third. Then Grier got stoned on a breakway and Esche had like 45 saves at that point.

Then Campbell hit Umberger, the place went nuts, and in the second OT Briere won it. The first playoff game for the Sabres or Bills in something like 4 years in Buffalo.

First one I remember watching was the Game 7 between the Capitals and Islanders in 1987 on Easter weekend, where Lafontaine scored the winner in the fourth OT. I was 12 years old.
