($5.50) 77 facing a raise - was this a bad decision?
Level 6 if I remember correctly. A raise seems like the right call from this position, but perhaps such a large one wasn't.

stack sizes for all the players at the table are important.

Re: ($5.50) 77 facing a raise - was this a bad decision?
You should fold here unless the raiser is really loose with his raises. You are either approx 55/45 favourite against unpaired over cards or a 20/80 underdog to higher pairs. So when you combine the 2 you are a clear underdog. Having said that the odd size of the raise is less likely to mean AA/KK and is very often AK AQ here. But it could well be another higher pair.

Re: ($5.50) 77 facing a raise - was this a bad decision?
Hey, I never said I'm an expert-- not even close. That's why I'm here asking advice. Only way to improve is to learn from mistakes.
Stack sizes: Seat 3: (3,385) Seat 5: Myself (1,045) Seat 6: (890) Seat 7: (5,425) Seat 8: (1,080) Seat 9: Raiser (1,675) In retrospect, seems like a bad decision. If it was an unraised pot coming to me then I am sure I should have raised, but facing a raise I probably should have folded it. |

Re: ($5.50) 77 facing a raise - was this a bad decision?
Definitely fold. 77 doesn't fare well against early position raises. You aren't THAT desperate yet.
Also, this is a $5.5, you will beat the other players by sticking with tight early and +EV pushing late. I wouldn't have raised 77 even if it were folded to me. |
