Default Trash dump forum

Suggested by BT in this thread, db had suggested something like this a long time ago: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showfl...=0#Post11747379

What do mods/admins think?

I think having a place to fire no-content/dumb threads from OOT, NVG, BBV4L, strat forums would be a pretty crap-ass forum, but a number of people seem interested! I do think it could reduce the amount of bitching/complaining about mods and provide an outlet valve that doesn't currently exist.

A number of people have stepped up as potential mods as well.

I guess I kinda thought that this was the designated function of BBV/BBV4Life. It was part of the charter of BBV, at least.

MW,

I don't really follow those forums. If the correct answer is simply "move those threads or tell those users to post in BBV4L" then that is great, a mod from there should go post that in the thread.

Diablito,

I like the idea.

I think BBV is a good example of this working. It started out as a forum for [censored] strategy posts and blossomed into a strong community even creating the need for a splitoff forum. I could see a community developing there as well. Not sure what the OOT mods would think, but it would probably make things a lot easier for them.

I think this is distinct from BBV because as I said, BBV started for bad strategy posts and the community blossomed creating BBV4L. I don't post there so this could be off, but I don't think it's supposed to be a trash dump so much as it just being an offshoot of the community that developed that required an off-topic post forum.

I think this is a pretty lame idea. If a thread sucks so much it should be moved to a trash dump forum, then it should just be locked or deleted. Decent no-content threads already exist in BBV/BBV4L and OOT, and if users really want to stink up a message board with B.S. they can go to another site. I like that 2+2 at least has *some* standard of decency. We're a smart, intolerant group of wiseasses who self-police against idiotic posting using banhammers, *s, and thread deletion.

Has anyone moved anything to BBV4Life besides Gild and Adanthar? I think part of this was that the other community forums don't like it when people move stuff to their forums and we kind of incorporated B4L into that.

Edit: Mat posted in the ATF thread he likes it, so I guess this is academic.

Could someone please show an example of a good thread that would belong in the trash dump that could not be posted in either BBV, BBV4life, OOT, LoL or any of the other off topic forums?
