Re: New nickname on every login on the pokersoftware
so maybe something like the ability to change our nick once a month or 3 or 6 is the best. this happened on party poker it was 6 months.

Re: New nickname on every login on the pokersoftware
I think the 'login' name would stay fixed-this is the only way to distinguish who's account is who's anyway. All they have to do is add a feature that allows you to change your alias or table name or screenname or whatever you want to call it.
As for how often you can change it, I would hope you could change it as often as you like, why add this feature if you can only change your name every 6 month's like on party. I personally like this idea. The people who need to have 1000's of hands on someone so they have an idea of how to play them are the stereotypical 12 tabling HUD-bots I think I heard someone refer to. I think this switch would cut back on the number of tables these nits could play since they would have to actually use their brain to play poker (isn't that the friggin point of the game anyway?). Anyways, I hope pokerstars reconsiders this and tries to implement. Lee wrote a damn fine article explaining why this is a great Idea and it seems like pokerstars didn't land on the same page as him. |

Re: New nickname on every login on the pokersoftware
I think that online poker should stay as constant with live poker as possible. I know there are a lot of areas in which it is impossible to have the two be equal (multitabling, etc), but this follows no logic to me. Can Phil Ivey go into a Vegas casino and tell the cage, "I don't want to play as me today." Likewise, I can't go into the same casino and say, "Today, I want to be Phil Ivey..." So, why do it online?

[/ QUOTE ] In live poker you can't instantly access a database of thousands of hands (or 10s of thousands of hands if datamining is available), already sorted into percentages and displayed neatly beside each player either...... So why do it online? Edit to add: Forgot I was in the MTT section... For MTTs I like the idea of keeping the same screenname(that everyone can see), although you can still build up a decent sized database even in just 1 tournament if you play with the same people long enough... hmmmmm. As for Cash games... Not at all. Kill the Hudbots, open up the game. |

Re: New nickname on every login on the pokersoftware
That would be super annoying to have to add an alias in PT every single day just to look at your own stats, never mind looking over other people's play. And you should be able to review hands of your opponents if you were at the table paying rake and putting your own money at risk against them. If they're doing this to prevent datamining then remove names from the observed hand histories or something. I'm all for that.

Re: New nickname on every login on the pokersoftware
I absolutely love this idea, and wish all sites would do this.
It could be an option from when you log in, and when you log out that nick would expire. Obviously no changing display names when in the tournament. I really think allowing people to do this would be healthy for the poker ecosystem, as LJ claims, and keep online poker going stronger, longer. For the people who claim they want to have online poker be equal to live poker.....don't be so selective. Most of you obviously do not want to get rid of multitabling. Most of you do not want to get rid of PokerACE and other software. So don't pretend like you wish to keep the "integrity" of the game intact.... I love this idea, and wish Cake Poker would get its act together so I could play there more. If stars or FT did this, that would be my deciding factor on which site to play at more. As far as notetaking and the like on people, I guess we would just have to use our reads in "real time"...I don't see that as being a huge issue. Note - I use PT, but for my own record keeping primarily. I would still be able to do this obviously as I would know my own nicks. |
