Default EDF: Evaluate my potential band\'s setlist

I had a band in high school. Some of my old bandmates and another friend who had a band are talking about getting the band back together. Mostly, we will drink beer and "practice." We all are, or at least were, relatively good musicians, so the possibilty of some goof-off bar gigs isn't out of the question. So, I present our proposed set list, in no particular order. Discuss.

Total Eclipse of the Heart- Bonnie Tyler
Fat Bottomed Girls - Queen
Start Me Up - Rolling Stones
Squeeze Box - The Who
Panama - Van Halen
Talk Dirty To Me - Poison

Handle With Care - The Travelling Wilburys
I Ran - A Flock of Seagulls
Helter Skelter - The Beatles
Whisky Drinking Woman - The Nazareth
Always and Forever - Kipling Ronald Dynamite (from the wedding scene in the motion picture Napoleon Dynamite)
Devil in Disguise - The Flying Burrito Brothers

Raw Power - Iggy & The Stooges
Shake Your Tail Feather - Mitch Ryder & The Detriot Wheels

Are you on a mission from God?

Your setlist rules, especially the Slade.

This is one of the EDF threads that I'm not old enough to appreciate. From what I recognize, looks good.

LFS,

It's funny you ask that. We compilled the set list by e-mail each other. The e-mail was titled "We're on a mission from God."

I like it a lot, but please add I'm an Adult Now by Pursuit of Happiness and The Cowboy Song by Thin Lizzy . Both are awesome bar band songs.

I will merely excerpt a few choices that arouse strong feelings.

[ QUOTE ]

Total Eclipse of the Heart- Bonnie Tyler

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm of two minds about this. I think after Old School, it's really, really hard to play this song without people screaming "I [censored] need you more than ever." So, it seems like it's probably played out, but people might really love that.

[ QUOTE ]

Fat Bottomed Girls - Queen
Panama - Van Halen
Talk Dirty To Me - Poison
Big Bottom - Spinal Tap

[/ QUOTE ]

Oh hell yes.

[ QUOTE ]
Down by the River - Neil Young

[/ QUOTE ]

Seems like a bit of a downer; doesn't really fit with the rest of the list.

[ QUOTE ]
Remedy - The Black Crowes
Twice as Hard - The Black Crowes
Sting Me - The Black Crowes

[/ QUOTE ]

I would ditch the Crowes.

[ QUOTE ]

Why Don't We Get Drunk and Screw - Jimmy Buffett

[/ QUOTE ]

Not my speed, but I grudgingly admit it is probably a good choice.

[ QUOTE ]

Helter Skelter - The Beatles

[/ QUOTE ]

Fun. Also, you should totally do "Why Don't We Do It in the Road?" I tried doing that at karaoke once and got shockingly low response, but I think if it were a band doing it people would get more into it.

Eagle,

Good call on Cowboy Song, a definate possibility.

Gump,

- Total Eclipse only made on the list so we could do the Old School version. We'll see how it plays.
- I agree about Neil Young, but the singer wanted to do it. I don't know if he has plans to make it less down beat.
- What's up with the Crowes hate? Those are great bar songs.

turnip,

CCR is good. You made me think that The Dropkick Murphys do a killer version of Fortunate Son that we might could pull off.
