Default What\'s on your Cheeseboard, EDF? #1

Ok, let's kick off with a simple combination:

1. French goat. Standard.

2. A classic English Stilton.

3. Dolcelatte. We were planning to have Stilton AND Roquefort (holla) but we couldn't find any in our local Costcutters.

Important: those other things on the plate are KRISPROLLS.

Ship the cheddah (or not......?)

There's a really nice English Blue cheese called Blackstick's Blue which you should try and get your hands on. In fact, any Shropshire Blue is very tasty.

I love Shropshire blue. Will try and get some Blackstick's if I can. Where did you buy it?

Solid choices. Instead of Cheddar, I would opt for a Gouda or Jarlsberg for a near-perfect cheese board. I'm getting hungry writing this

I like the Gouda or Jarlsberg ideas.

Let's not dismiss the solid cheddar though: can anyone recommend a nice reasonably mature cheddar that's widely (supermarket?) available?

If you're after a nice all round blue I really recommend Saint Agur.

Are you in the UK? If so, just go to a decent supermarket. I think I got it from Sainsbury's but I'm not sure.

In fact, here's a link detailing stockists.

Edit: Bozzer,

Any Cheddars from the Western Isles of Scotland, or the Mull of Kintyre tend to be very good. Supermarkets often have cheeses from around here, and if not a cheese shop will see you right. Cheddar from the Isle of Mull is particularly good.
