Short bankroll jam or "Best way grind 40k in 15 days on short BR?"

Due to a combination of factors, I find myself in new territory. For non poker related reasons, I withdrew most of my bankroll last month and have just been on a viciously cold run of cards the last week & some bad beats at 25/50 & 50/100, in short I’m down 40k in July and I’m down to 26k in the bankroll, spread across the major sites, I just retired from my day job and poker money has always been 1 way for me, I have never put more than my original $25 UB deposit and I intend to keep it that way. The kicker is I really want something that is just over 40k by eom, I’d like to do it via poker and it has to be by the 26th as I won a WSOP ME entry and I’d really like to have the existing bankroll+ to take along for cash games. If I have to I can pull the 40k from other sources but it’ll be a pain and something about being under the gun challenge appeals to me in a Rounders sort of way. Fortunately I can now play as much as I want as I’m now retired and the fiancé is mostly out of town in July and I’m setup for massively multitable grinding if I decide that is the best approach.

On the purely technical side of things, my BR is too short to sustain much variance at the moment so 10/20 and 25/50 are out until I’m back over 50k and even then, 25/50 would have to be played very nitty or just taking a shot and pray. Full fing used to be my best game but I doubt that’s true anymore as too much 6 max in June seems to have wrecked my ability to fold vs full ring set miners when I have top 2 or mid set. So I’m trying to decide on my approach:

#1 Grinding like hell at 3/6 across FT, Party & Stars til I’m back up to 50k then going back to 10/20 full ring where I’m 3.1 BB lifetime with some 5/10 6 max (3.9bb but only 44k sample) last during day when rull ring games are dead. Call this the semi Zeebo bet option as I’d be shooting for close to 20k at 3/6 in a week to get me back to 10/20 with a more healthy bankroll (and a chance to recover from this weeks shelling at 10/20 & up and I’d be unknown there, right now at my usual games, I doubt anyone expects me to turn over a winning hand which is limiting.)
80 hours/week, 6/8 tabling at a 5 PTBB winrate should get me back to where I can play a tight 10/20 game by the 20th and hopefully grind out the rest that way.

#2 5/10 6max and nothing but for the duration, 6 table it, keep improving that game and just try to focus like hell for the duration & play a LOT of hours.
Basically the same at 6 max but with higher variance risk

#3 Suggestions? (that doesn’t involve 200/400 or bad_ip)


And just to make it interesting I won't short stack anything either, at least 60x BB buyins. I'll be taking the afternoon off from poker to recharge but starting tomorrow at 6 am the clock is running.

I think you've analysed you're choices pretty well, it all comes down to the risk factor you're willing to take. I'd go for option number one. Don't rush it.

12 table 400 and 600nl. 26k can too easily become too little for 5/10nl six-max and you'll start playing scared.

if you're willing to put in 80 hr weeks and can manage 8 tables you can make it at nl200, nevermind 400/600.

I think you've thought it out pretty well, I'd play 3/6 until you've got the dough to get back into the 10/20 game.

Dude here is the thing, you say you play with me on FTP although I do not know your screen name. You also say that you play 10/20 and 25/50.

If this is the case then I believe you are probably a good player.

With that said please do not waste your time on 3/6.

You can 8 table NL 5/10 comfortably with 26k. A solid week you should be at $50k in no time.

Option # 1 and take shots at 10/20 on party or 10/25 on UB when the games are good. FWIW, I am in the same boat but for reasons much different than yours.
