trickiness preflop leads into a weird river c/r bluff w made hand
UTG (nitty reg playing 16/13, seems kinda weak and straightforward so far. $1,945 behind, i cover) opens for $75 utg. folded around to me in SB. i just call with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
flop: J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], i check and call $140 turn: 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], i check, he checks. river A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], i check, he tanks and bets $350. i raise everything... don't think he's seen me get horribly out of line and the only reason he might suspect i am capable is if he frequents 2+2. |

seems wild, obv ur hoping that he is b/f an A here...
Its gonna be sick when he tanks and calls QT,QK that he was pot controlling turn with... Do you really need to push? How much higher do you think the ratio of success is if we say raise him 3x his bet?? Thats the real question here isn't it? JT |

In a vacuum I think a 3x raise is more profitable

I agree. What's the difference in raising to $1K and shoving the river? Is it really going to open his calling range that much?

I like a c/r of about 1100-1200.

I really don't get preflop, flop or turn at all.
Maybe someone can explain why you should do this. Sure, I guess I c/r river to 1100. In real life I would probably shove because of how much tilt I am on from how I just played the earlier 3 streets. |

As a rule I don't like trying to make people fold when they think they have the best hand on the river. Especially not if their reaction to my line is going to be "WTF?"
If he's a weak/tightish nit tho, this probably worked. Oh and if you want him to fold an ace, I think a shove is better than 3x raise. |
