I guess I just think if his range is that narrow that calling turn/v-betting river when he checks has higher EV then this line b/c he is going to payoff way more often.

I will take a line like this but its very opponent specific and rare. I also don't think that just b/c the guy is 18/14 and RRs a lot means his range is narrow enough here for this play.

Especially given how often you open in late position.

i like the hand and i like your thought process man. you just have to keep in mind that when you make high variance plays, you're gonna go through a lot of stretches where it seems like they NEVER work...even if they are +ev

maybe temporarily. but its one of those situations where his range is polarized and hero may as well have ace high=.

this is an interesting/important concept either way u look at it.

Very good point, our hand is basically A high here if you think about it.

we have a ton more equity with our top pair hand and mid pairs are a very reasonable hand for him to have as well.

more equity why? the only difference i see is that he might have low flush draws that could pair river and beat an A high hand. I really dont think the villain in question is turing midpair into a bluff here. Rarely, if at all

i take that back actually, since i guess villain could be 'protecting his pair' vs. our percieved draw by 3 bet pushing.

nontheless i think that scenario still does not happen very often
