Default Avi burning question

I am trying to burn a DVD from some home video .avi files I have. I want it to be able to play in a regular home dvd player.

What software do I need? Either to rip the .avi files to a different format or one that will burn them directly from .avi

EDIT: preferable one with DVD menu options.

It really depends on what formats your dvd player will play, and what format your .avi is in. Have a visit here http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/. Theres a ton of information there that should be able to help you out. If you have any other questions let me know.
